In colonial times firefighters were a group of men called a “bucket brigade”. These men would put out fires passing buckets of water from man to man down a line to the fire. Even when the first fire engine was built it relied on a “bucket brigade” to feed the water storage tank while a firefighter would use a hand pump to extinguish the flames. This fire engine had to be pushed and pulled to each fire. Today firefighters use pumper trucks, which rely on fire hydrants attached to hoses or tanker trucks, which carry 1000 gallons or more. Show your support for these brave volunteer or career firefighters who put their lives on the line each time a fire arises by flying a firefighter flag.
